We have our mate Matt Rorick of Forlorn Hope Wines to thank for inspiring our swing to Ramato.
Having tasted our way through enough well-meaning Provençale-style rosés to last a good few lifetimes, this vintage we decided to take turn south towards Italy and the ‘copper-y’ Ramato style. Skin-fermented Pinot Gris with the added complexity of whole-bunch fermentation, our version of this Fruilian specialty is marked by deeply herbal, mountain air aromas. In keeping with the defining characteristics of the 2019 vintage, BK Ramato straddles structure and lightness.
Flavours of mulberry, cedar and the bittersweet tang of a whiskey sour with a maraschino twist. 100% whole-bunch Pinot Gris. Fermented on skins rather than pressed.
