This is our third vintage working with this site and this fabulous California clone. (A reminder for any Chardonnay tragics in the audience following along as we wend our way through the years, GinGin is not the same clone as Mendoza… sorta same-same, but actually, genetically different.) This was our second Chardonnay vineyard harvested in 2022, and if we were lining them up in order of personality, it would indeed be second in the row. A contemplative, interesting wine with loads of personality from the outset. Where a Brigitte Bardot is objectively, aesthetically perfect, Sophia Loren is no less stunning, despite the arresting gap between her teeth. GinGin is our Sophia. Persimmon slices dusted with cinnamon and fresh, biting pineapple. This wine is spicy, tight, unique and alluring. An uncommon beauty.
100% Piccadilly Chardonnay, handpicked, wild-yeast fermentation, whole bunch pressed to barrel, some bâttonage, 10 months in 25% new French oak, unfiltered and unfined, only 100 dozen made.
