Description

While last year’s The Fall came in voluptuous and fleshy – like a jazz singer in a dark, smoky lounge – this year’s is bright and savoury, hitting syncopated notes with an arrow-like structure. Still with a lick of graphite lick in the background, the main attraction is lemon-lime and yuzu flavours that fill the mid palate.
A pleasing reflection of the capacity of deep-rooted, well-loved Chardonnay vines to produce stunning wines despite a complicated season. 100% Carey Gully Chardonnay, handpicked, wild-yeast fermentation, whole bunch pressed to barrel, some bâtonnage, 10 months in 30% new French oak, unfiltered and unfined, 50 dozen made.
